This week, I’ve been thinking hard about Digital Storytelling. I want to create stories that matter to me but might also appeal to others.
An excellent resource for understanding Digital Storytelling is a collaborative blog by two scholars, Thomas P. Mackey, professor of arts and media, and Sheila Marie Aird, associate professor of European academic programs for the Center for International Education SUNY Empire State College. https://digital-stories.org/
The global digital stories blog offers resources for students trying to understand what digital storytelling is all about. So what is it all about? It’s a creative way for everyone to produce their narratives using everyday digital technology to share a story based on their own experiences or insights.
I use so many of these tools, so I think narrowing it down to something I’m comfortable using. For example, a while back, I searched for the equivalent application to Apple’s iMovie and discovered Kinemaster. It’s easy to use and relatively inexpensive for a couple of dollars to subscribe to use extra features and tools.
Right now, I’m brainstorming some ideas.
What’s next? I’ll need to come up with my plan. Then create an outline or script. Finally, create a storyboard, so I know what visuals need to be on my screen.
When I’m ready, I’ll film and record.
