The topic for my digital storytelling project originally stems from an idea I had about the weird customs or superstitions that are passed down from your parents. As I started to dig around, I found some really bizarre customs that are still prevalent to this day, like jumping over babies in Spain to ward off the devil.

The outline of the story will begin with a brief history about superstitions and customs - that they're either created to give reasoning to the unexplainable - ignoring science. Or, they have a deeper or hidden meaning. The story will continue with modern bizarre customs and superstitions still practiced today.
I will talk about the bizarre superstitions and customs that came from my own upbringing which I may connect to the history and superstitions and origins from Mexico. I'm also searching for academic articles that explore the reasons why people and cultures hold on to superstitions and customs.
Finally, I will interview several people from different backgrounds and cultures who will share a custom or superstition they were raised and taught as children. I ask if they have passed them on to their own children? Do they laugh about them? Or learn from them.
There are lots of visual opportunities. I will invite interviewees to share photos and I'm searching for images that show various superstitions and customs.
I'm working on a storyboard and will create a video using the app Kinemaster.
